Emily Garcia joined St. Mark’s Place Institute of Mental Health in 2014 as a part-time Mental Health Counselor. She was excited to embrace the opportunity to work with adults at Unitas, to expand on her extensive experience working with children, adolescents and their families within the NYC public school system as a Bilingual School Psychologist.
As a Mental Health Counselor Emily has worked with individual clients experiencing a variety of symptoms including anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, interpersonal difficulties, domestic abuse and chemical dependence. She has also facilitated anger management groups, parent-training groups and medication management groups.
Emily is committed to providing clients with a safe, warm, culturally sensitive and supportive environment where they will work collaboratively to develop increased self-awareness and the skills necessary to lead a more fulfilling, authentic life.
