Substance Use Disorder

This is a problematic use of a substance or substances leading to impairments in all aspects of life. In our program we use a combination of medications, individual therapy, and group therapy to address the problems of mis-use, and we also keep focus on what mental health conditions lead to the mis-use of the substance. We treat the mis-use condition, while treating the underlying cause of the condition. We individualize each program to meet you where you are on your road to control of your substance use.

Buprenorphine

Buprenorphine (aka Suboxone) is used as an alternative medication to opioids. Opioids that are commonly abused are Percocet, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, heroine, fentanyl, and kratum. We will give you medications to make the time it takes to get the substance of abuse out of your system comfortable. Then, when the substance is low enough, we will start buprenorphine. We continue buprenorphine as long as you would like. It can be a couple of weeks, months, or even years, but when you are ready, we will gently decrease the buprenorphine.

We also offer Sublocade. Sublocade is an injectable buprenorphine that’s injected once a month.

Individual Substance Use Psychotherapy

We believe that therapy needs to focus on identifying and changing troubling emotions, thoughts, and behaviors that lead patients to abusing substances as a cooping mechanism. In this version of psychotherapy we focus on what emotions, and thoughts lead the patient to start abusing substances. This therapy is sometimes done alone, or in conjunction with individual substance use disorder therapy and/or group.
